Blue Navy Murenga Stripe Kikoy
Sold Out
The ultimate in African accessories. Everyone should have one. Our stunning striped Kikoys are not only ideal for the beach but can also be used as a scarf, sarong, picnic rug or colourful furniture throw. They are available in a variety of vibrant colours and measure approximately 66 inches by 40 inches.
Historically, the Kikoy (also spelt Kikoi), is a traditional hand-woven East African garment worn by fishermen in Kenya and Tanzania. Kikoy is made from 100% cotton that is grown and harvested in East Africa. The woven fabric is dyed with bright, azo free dyes, resulting in a traditional sarong with vibrant colors that represent the spirit of the East African people. Today, kikoy is still hand-loomed, though it is often machine-loomed to increase quality and production quantities. The distinctive kikoy tassels continue to be hand-knotted by artisans.
