It describes all the blessings we might wish for children to know, from the joy of the sun upon their face, to the value of friendship and education.

Wishes for a Child

May you know the gift of friendship

Feel the sun upon your face

May you win displaying dignity

And accept defeat with grace

May you marvel at the wonders

Of nature and the earth

And know your own true worth

And do the thing that’s right

During the Norman Conquest, the English carried dried acorns to protect themselves from the brutalities of the day. Considered to be an emblem of luck, prosperity, youthfulness and power, the Acorn is a good luck symbol indeed! It also represents spiritual growth.
