Green clay, also known as French Clay and Sea Clay, has been used for generations as a skin preparation and face mask. It naturally absorbs excess oil, gently removes bacterial and toxins on the surface of the skin, while gently exfoliating away dead skin cells and sebum. It is ideal for clearing blocked pores by bringing blemishes to the surface making them easy to remove. Green Clay is the most versatile, most effective, and most commonly used mineral skin clays found in the world, it contains many valuable elements. Green clay owes its coloration to two very important factors: iron oxide and plant matter. French Green Clay contains several elements which are responsible for working the outer epidermis in its own way and in dispensing their biological constituents as best as possible, for ultimate cleansing and purifying.
French clay soap is high in minerals such as magnesium, calcium, copper, selenium, potassium and manganese. It is used for cosmetic purposes and medical treatments as it stimulates the skins cell turnover. Our stunning striped Kikoys are not only ideal for the beach but can also be used as a scarf, sarong, picnic rug or colourful furniture throw. They are available in a variety of vibrant colours and measure approximately 66 inches by 40 inches.
Historically, the Kikoy (also spelt Kikoi), is a traditional hand-woven East African garment worn by fishermen in Kenya and Tanzania. Kikoy is made from 100% cotton that is grown and harvested in East Africa. The woven fabric is dyed with bright, azo free dyes, resulting in a traditional sarong with vibrant colors that represent the spirit of the East African people. Today, kikoy is still hand-loomed, though it is often machine-loomed to increase quality and production quantities. The distinctive kikoy tassels continue to be hand-knotted by artisans.
